Our workshop in Berlin provided a background on the history of urban planning and changing the socio-spatial environment in Marzahn and Hellersdorf. We explored the socialist concept of co-living since 70’s and the way it has transformed to the fragmented spaces of the district in recent years. We choose different modes of transportation to experience time and space with different paces. We looked at the city from different perspectives to gain an understanding of transient spaces of the case study. It was followed by discussing various approaches towards documentary photography, discussing indexicality and performativity, photography as speech act and appropriation of space through the photographic act.
The workshop held by Parham Mortazavian urban researcher together with photographer Nafise Fath in a collaboration with Barbara Klage, Thomas Klage and support of BLO Ateliers and ECCE.
